about us

Sing Slavic first began in 2011 under the name The Philadelphia Women*s Slavic Ensemble. The group started as a few friends in West Philly sharing simple Slavic folk songs. Since then, we have grown into a community of singers of all skill levels and backgrounds celebrating the chest voice, a style of singing that stems from Slavic folk tradition. We perform songs from Eastern Europe that encourage creativity, boldness, and unapologetic self-expression. You can find us at all types of community events, usually with homemade flower crowns and a giant bottle of red wine.

In 2021, the group adopted its current name, Sing Slavic, to better reflect its members of all genders (except cis men, sorry).

We are currently on break from rehearsing and performing but will be back Spring of 2022!
