Due to COVID-19, PWSE is currently holding rehearsals virtually. Hopefully we'll find more ways to perform safely soon. Be well!

About us!

The Philadelphia Women*s Slavic Ensemble (aka PWSE) began in West Philly in 2011 as a few friends sharing simple Slavic folk songs. Since then, we have grown into a community of singers of all skill levels and backgrounds celebrating the chest voice, a style of singing that stems from Slavic folk tradition. We perform songs from Eastern Europe that encourage creativity, boldness, and unapologetic self-expression. You can find us at all types of community events, usually with homemade flower crowns and a giant bottle of red wine.

About the aster*sk: While the majority of our songs are traditionally about and sung by girls and women, we accept (almost) all genders to our group. Everyone but cisgender men. Sorry, cis dudes.
